Israel kills at least 70 children across Gaza in last 5 days alone
Israel killed at least 70 children in its genocidal war on Gaza in the last five days alone, the Palestinian enclave's civil defense service said Sunday.
The agency did not provide details on the age of the victims, only saying that they died in attacks targeting several areas across the Palestinian enclave.
Palestinian children in Gaza continue to bear a heavy toll from Israel’s genocidal war, now in its 16th month.
"The new year has brought more death and suffering from attacks, deprivation, and increasing exposure to the cold,” UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said earlier on Jan. 8.
Meanwhile, at least 28 more Palestinians were killed in recent Israeli attacks across the besieged territory, pushing the overall death toll since October 2023 to 46,565, the Gazan Health Ministry confirmed Sunday.
A ministry statement added that some 109,660 others were injured in the ongoing assault.
"Israeli forces killed 28 people and injured 89 others in two massacres of families in the last 24 hours,” the ministry said.
"Many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.
Israel has continued a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip since a cross-border incursion by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.
The second year of conflict has drawn growing international condemnation, with officials and institutions labeling the attacks and blocking of aid deliveries as a deliberate attempt to destroy a population.
In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the blockaded enclave.
Anadolu journalist Saed Abu Nabhan killed in Gaza by Israeli army
Attack brings number of Palestinian journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 to 203, says Palestinian state-run Wafa news
Saed Abu Nabhan, a freelance Anadolu cameraman in Gaza, has been killed by an Israeli army long-range rifle attack.
On Friday, the Israeli military first surrounded an area in the Al-Jadeed Refugee Camp, located in central Gaza's Nuseirat region, where many journalists were present, before targeting those in the area.
Footage from the scene shows a wounded individual being rushed out of a house on a stretcher with the help of aid workers.
Nearby, Abu Nabhan is seen trying to run while covering the incident with his equipment. At that moment, he is targeted by what appears to be a shot fired from a long-range rifle.
Abu Nabhan then falls to the ground and lies motionless. People nearby struggle fearfully to approach him due to the threat of being targeted by Israeli bullets.
Official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported on the attack, confirming that Abu Nabhan was killed.
Separately, at least one person was reported dead, with the deceased and injured taken to Al Ahli Baptist Hospital, following an Israeli air strike on the house in Gaza’s Shuja’iyya neighborhood.
The death of Abu Nabhan brought the total number of Palestinian journalists killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023 to 203. Reports also indicate that 399 journalists have been injured, and 43 others captured.
The Israeli army has continued a genocidal war on Gaza that has killed more than 46,000 people, most of them women and children, since Oct. 7, 2023, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on Gaza.
1,000 strategic, stealth, anti-fortification drones join Iran Army’s Combat Organization
As many as 1,000 strategic, stealth, and anti-fortification unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have joined the Iranian Army’s Combat Organization.
The delivery took place on Monday following a relevant announcement made by Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, deputy chief of the Army for Coordination.
Yesterday, a senior Iranian Army commander said the force will take delivery of a new destroyer as well as 1,000 strategic drones in the coming days.
Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, deputy chief of the Iranian Army for Coordination, said on Sunday that the destroyer will join the naval force while the drones will be inducted into the Army’s Drone Unit.
“Stealth, long range, pinpoint accuracy and high destructive power are among the features of these drones, which will be added to the Islamic Republic of Iran's Army in the coming days,” Sayyari said.
As for the new destroyer, he said, “The addition could significantly bolster the combat capability of the Navy.”
Sayyari also said a large number of upgraded vessels and flight units will be added to the Navy in the near future.
Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Force Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari said earlier that the new military equipment joining the Army has capabilities like maneuverability, precision, and smartness, and is network-based, which will be used to counter any type of threat.
Iran's Armed Forces, including the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the country’s Army, have been continuously enhancing their military hardware and combat readiness in line with the directives of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The forces have vowed to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of the threats by the Iranian nation’s enemies.
